Mathew 22:37-40
37 Jesus said
unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with
all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38
This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is
like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Mathew 5:37-48
37
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is
more than these cometh of evil. 38 Ye have heard that it
hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite
thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if any man
will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy
cloak also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a
mile, go with him twain. 42 Give to him that asketh thee,
and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 Ye have heard that
it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine
enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them
that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be
the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun
to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and
on the unjust.
46 For if ye love
them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans
the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do
ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is
perfect.
1 Peter 2:21-23
21 For even
hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving
us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he
threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously.
Proverbs 1:10-16
10 My son, if
sinners entice thee, consent thou not. 11
If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk
privily for the innocent without cause: 12
Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go
down into the pit: 13 We shall
find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: 14
Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: 15
My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from
their path: 16 For their feet
run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
John 10:27-28
My sheep hear my voice, and I
know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and
they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my
hand.
Psalm 34:17
17 The righteous
cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their
troubles. 18 The LORD is nigh
unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a
contrite spirit. 19 Many are the
afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them
all.
Psalm 37:39
39 But the
salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the
time of trouble. 40 And the LORD
shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the
wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
Psalm 91
1 He that
dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the
shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will
say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will
I trust. 3 Surely he shall
deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome
pestilence.
4 He shall cover
thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his
truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow
that flieth by day; 6 Nor for
the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that
wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand
shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it
shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only
with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou
hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy
habitation; 10 There shall no
evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall
give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot
against a stone. 13 Thou shalt
tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt
thou trample under feet. 14
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I
will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call
upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will
deliver him, and honour him. 16
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
